I would say that it was now a typical weekend at HK. Several more students left, this time for the thanksgiving holiday only. So the student population was shrinking quickly.
Saturday, I had originally signed up for a trip. The trip was a Native American thanksgiving event, and although it sounded like fun, I choose not to go. It seemed like the day went by quickly. The one major thing that kept me busy was blog writing. In the last entry, some of the topics were very hard and difficult for me to write about. But because I had the day mostly free, it gave my fingers, mind and body time to process, reflect and gather the necessary words to describe the situations. A new trend for me is that I have begun to work out. For example on Friday night I, went to the Gym with a group of other students. I walked 30 minutes on the treadmill. My goal was to get my heart rate up, to break a sweat, and to get my body moving. I look back and see how in shape I use to be, and now I feel like a big blob. It felt good to walk out that long. Then Saturday I continued the tradition, I went again, this time before dinner, and walked 30 minutes on the treadmill. Again it felt great. Not sure why it is so hard to say I am going to go to the gym, to get there, but for me once I am there, it’s easy. I love to walk on the treadmill, to turn on music really loud, to zone out, take out all of my frustrations, all of my negative emotions, and just sweat. I probably have a really angry look on my face while I am walking. But in order for me to push myself, to encourage myself, I have to get angry. I have to get downright mad, mad at the weight, at the food, at the feelings and frustrations. Otherwise there was nothing much to report for Saturday. If you could look at the dorm, people do their own things, or sleep, or just be lazy. But it is really dead; it’s quiet, and calm.
Sunday, had turned absolutely cold outside. Temps dropped into the 20’s and probably lower. Even to go outside your hands would freeze within just a few minutes. Of course this meant this is the day that there was a trip that I wanted to go on. Today’s trip was to a craft fair in the gym of a high school. There were two students, and two staff persons to go. Of course I was the only female, all other men.
We arrived at the gym, and the person guiding me around was a male, who is trying his best to describe different things that are being sold and shown. Of course men no nothing about colors or types of clothes, scarves, hats, purses, and jewelry. But at least I can say that some men, for example my husband and the staff person guiding me was being super helpful and at least trying.
After looking around, spending some money on presents for certain people in my life. Sorry I can’t say who, we were hungry. So we headed out to the van. While heading out to the van, the wind was blowing so hard, it took away my breathe, it was absolutely freezing. So we were originally heading to Smash Burger, but decided to go to Ruby Tuesday’s. I had a nice burger, pretzel burger to be specific. With sweet potato fries, and a diet coke. I didn’t eat all of the fries. It was very good, and nice to have real food again. Then we headed back to the dorm. We got back around 3, as we had left at 10am.
So in keeping with my tradition, I went to the gym to workout again. This time we went over after dinner, but I didn’t actually eat dinner, as I was so not hungry. This time I walked for 40 minutes. Same routine as the previous two nights. In the gym it was very cold temperature, but it felt good as I worked up quite a sweat. By the time I got back to the dorm, I was exhausted. I wanted to work out before I started my laundry, so once I got back from the gym, I started that going too. It took at longer than I had expected to get it all done. Of course that gave me more blogging time. But I was hardly able to move, as my body was very stiff. The laundry finally completed at 10pm, I quickly got ready for bed, and talked to hubby. I actually don’t remember talking to hubby or going to bed, that is how tired I was. I think it was around 11 that we hung up and fell asleep.
Sunday November 24th, is also my son’s 16th birthday. At some point I will post his birth story. Where does the time go, when your having fun!
While I was here, hubby attended church in the morning, and then went to his dad’s house for coffee. Hubby’s dad, brother and sister and hubby all sat around talking and telling stories. At one point I called, when they were talking about me, of course I didn’t know this when I called. Hubby got home around 5:30, when he called to catch up with me, as I was frantically getting ready to go to the gym.
Both hubby and I are now counting down the days and hours until we are reunited. Two and half days…we can do it!
So that was my weekend, I know not to very exciting, but not completely boring either. I think I am officially caught up in entries. The next week looks busy, so you’ll have to forgive me if the entries wait until I get back. I’ll do my best to at least write so I don’t forget everything.
If I don’t write, I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Don’t eat too much, be safe, and be thankful for what you have and for what you don’t.
Until next time…
