The last week and half of October was fairly uneventful. One of the major things was that I had more medical tests to figure out my digestive issues. On October 25th, I had the first of three tests. This test was to test to see if my body made more bacteria. Apparently if your body makes too much bacteria, then this can mean that it can make you sick. *shrug* I fasted after 8pm, the night before. My SIL picked me up at 7:40am; on the way we picked up a prescription that I was too drink for my test. We arrived and were able to hang out in a nice little sun room that had big windows overlooking a woody area behind the hospital. My vitals were taken first, and then I drank the mixture. Yes I know more disgusting drinks. This did not really taste too bad, but it didn’t taste good either. The test began at 8:20am, and every 15 minutes the nurse would come back and take a breath sample. It’s the same sort of breath sample as like in for an alcohol test. I never even knew that they could test your breath to see different things like this. We were there for 4 hours. Luckily both SIL and I took plenty of things to do, she got some work done, as they had great Wi-Fi, and I checked and answered emails. When I was done being tested, I was incredibly hungry, considering I had not eaten anything for over 12 hours at this point. So I treated myself to Wendy’s. I tried there new pretzel burger, it was very Yummy!
The second of the breath tests took place on the following Monday October 28th, this time again I fasted. This test was to check for the intolerance of lactose, i.e. milk products. At a wonderful bright and early hour of 5 am, hubby brought me a 12oz glass of whole milk. YUCK! I don’t generally drink milk to begin with, but drinking whole milk just made my stomach feel heavy and gross. Again we went into the doctor’s office, and I did the same breath test. This time it was only one though. When I got home, I was so nauseated; I could not eat right away.
The third and final test was October 30th, and this time was the same routine. Appointment at 8am, fast for 12 hours. But this time I had to drink a 12oz glass of soda, not diet soda, but normal Coke or Pepsi. Just like with the lactose, the test was just on breath test; this time they were testing for a intolerance to fructose. The good part is that drinking soda, although early in the morning, did not seem to affect my stomach. I was able to go home and go on with my day like there was nothing wrong. Granted for several mornings we got up at 5 am. I could not go back to sleep for any of the test after waking and drinking. So of course now it’s a waiting game to see what is wrong, or if this round of testing will find anything going on.
One of the most exciting parts of this particular end of October was that we held a game/family/Halloween thing at our house. No kids, well only the ones that came to the door for candy. We gave out candy, had lots and lots of snacky stuff, drank wine, sat around and ate, talked, and had a good night. Several neighbors with small ones came by to see us. We totally pigged out on candy, and snacky foods. Let’s see if I can even remember all of the good things we ate: crackers, cheese, summer sausage, pepperoni, salsa, spinach dip, with chips, honey mustard chicken finger thingy’s, and as I have already mentioned lots of sweets. I know am probably forgetting everything. We played the ETC game, which even though they say they do not want to play, everyone eventually gets into. I would say we saw about 30 to 40 trick or treaters. At some point on that night it started to rain, so all of the TnTérs stopped coming. Which was fine with me, as that meant more candy for me. LOL The other not so great thing that happened that night, something hubby and I didn’t learn about until after the fact is that my FIL’s windshield wiper got broken off. Broken off purposefully. I didn’t think we lived in that type of area, but there were parties going on, teenagers hanging out, so I guess someone just thought they would be a butthead about it. *shrug* It was an awesome evening, so I can’t really complain.
So as you can read the end of October went extremely fast. In-between all of the tests, family, Halloween, cleaning, we did the normal things. Clean house, laundry, cook dinner, hang out, get ready for me to go HKNC, get organizational work done, get ready for the convention, and many more things I am not remembering.
One other noteworthy event was that hubby and I celebrated our enganniversary. Yes I just made up that word…LOL and yes its very gushy, but for us romantic. It was four years on October 25th, that my now hubby proposed to me. I remember that day like it was just yesterday, and probably as I have mentioned before. Even though we have only been married for 4 years, we have had challenges and trials that most marriage never have. But with that said we have had some of the most wonderful moments and times in our very short marriage together. Our marriage is something that some people never have in 10 or 15 year time, but for its only 4 years. I am incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful man. For our 5 year anniversary, I will post our story, of how we met, our engagement story and the poem hubby proposed with. I know. I know.. I know.. Very gushy, very romantic. I won’t apologize because that is what my marriage is like, and I cherish it very much.
Ok, other noteworthy topics, my puppy, my guide dog, balance partner, celebrated her 3rd birthday on the same day as my son’s, October 21st. We also celebrated our first of partnership together on October 19th. Wow how time flies when you’re having fun..
As here I am now writing this in November. November 1st hit both me and hubby over the head. It was like we were just going along, doing our normal stuff, our normal things, enjoying every day, and being grateful, and then WHAM! Here is November!
More to come…
